The people behind Witcombe Surveying & Conservation Ltd.
RICS Regulated Practice
We are a family-run company based in Hastings, St Leonards-on-Sea and Cranbrook, with our secretary Katherine Reynolds, and office support staff Jo, Jeanette and Lutfiah from Sussex Business Bureau providing us with their valuable assistance where needed.
No matter if David is out of the office and crawling through a tight roof space covered in cobwebs – someone is always available to answer your telephone calls and make appointments with Estate Agents and vendors.
Founder
David Witcombe
MRICS MSc BSC (Hons)
David has always been interested in architecture, even from an early age. He started his BSc in Building Surveying in 1999 and worked as a Surveyor from 2001 as part of a degree work experience year before becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 2006. He completed a part-time MSc in Building Conservation in 2012 and is due to start another MSc in Timber Building Conservation.
David is a full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has recently become a full member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association.
With over 20 years of experience as a surveyor, he has inspected thousands of houses and hundreds of Listed Buildings. He is an expert in identifying defects in period and heritage properties, and other surveying practices will often bring David in as an independent consultant to help with a complicated Listed Building Survey.
While at J J Hatfield & Company Ltd of Lewes, David oversaw the conversion of Listed barns to holiday lets and managed large extension projects. He surveyed all types of buildings, including the Grade I Listed Sheffield Park House, and was often commissioned by Local Councils to report on the condition of their public buildings.
After starting Witcombe Surveying and Conservation Ltd in 2015 with his wife Aicha, David’s focus has increasingly turned to providing pre-purchase reports on older, larger and Listed Buildings, including timber framed houses over 500 years old, mills and oast houses.
As a 15-year-member of Uckfield and Hastings Conqueror BNI (Business Networking International) and the Sedlescombe BBC (Business Breakfast Club), David knows the best local tradespeople, solicitors, and insurance brokers – in order to pass contact details when clients are new to the Hastings, St Leonards, Bexhill, Cranbrook and Rye areas.
His spare time is spent with his wife, Aicha, family and friends, including his four-year-old twins Bea and Belle, and step-son Keir. As a family, they’ll often enjoy day trips, garden BBQs, swimming, and ballet lessons (for Bea and Belle – not David!). Summer evenings are usually spent kayaking around Rock-a-Nore in Hastings with his dad and friends.

As a director of Witcombe Surveying and Conservation Ltd, Aicha manages all marketing campaigns and is office general manager.
